Dr. Tanya Artman
Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. Tanya Artman graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009 and moved back to her home state of PA to practice veterinary medicine. After many years as an associate, the opportunity arose to finally become a practice owner at Caring Hands Animal Hospital. This journey is a new and exciting one with many challenges and joys to experience as time goes on. She enjoys gastrointestinal internal medicine and surgery. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 small children, a pomeranian, Hershey, and one-eyed cat, Willy.
Dr. Sallie Smith
Veterinarian
I am Sallie Smith, DVM. I graduated from Penn State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience. I then attended The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville, TN. Upon graduation in 1989, I began my career here at Caring Hands Animal Hospital, treating both large and small animals. I now work only in small animals and a select number of exotics, mainly the furry pocket pets like rabbits and guinea pigs.
When I am not at work, I tend to my menagerie at home, which includes dogs, cats, goats, chickens, rabbits, a chinchilla, and a few birds. I enjoy cutting the grass, which gives me peace and quiet to think. I also enjoy puzzles, reading, and learning new languages.
Dr. Alexandra Berg
Veterinarian
Dr. Alexandra Berg grew up right here in Danville where she watched her father, Dr. Ken Berg, work both as a veterinarian and practice owner. She graduated from Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2023 and decided to move back home to work alongside her father and friends at Caring Hands Animal Hospital.
In her free time she enjoys hiking with her dogs, Bozeman and Billings, reading, and traveling. Dr. Berg also has two cats, Duchess and Poe, and hopes to add some cows to the family some day.
Dr. Ken Berg
Veterinarian
Dr. Ken Berg grew up out west spending many years in South Dakota and Montana before graduating from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. From there he moved to Pennsylvania to start his career as a mixed animal veterinarian. Dr. Berg owned his own practice for many years but now enjoys focusing on medicine and mentoring his daughter, Dr. Alexandra Berg. In his free time, enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and daughter, biking, yard work, and basketball.
Dr. Jolie Hunsinger
Veterinarian
Dr. Jolie Hunsinger has been a member of the Caring Hands Animal Hospital team since working as a veterinary assistant in 2007 while she was a student at Penn State. She came back as a veterinarian following her graduation from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. In practice, her special interests include preventative medicine, internal medicine, and pathology. When not at work, Dr. Hunsinger enjoys spending time with her husband, Nate, attending Penn State football games, and getting in over her head on a variety of crafty projects. Dr. Hunsinger loves her rescue dog, Hannah, whom she trains for and competes in K9 Nosework trials.

Kim
Veterinary Assistant
I’ve had a connection with animals since I was a little girl, which led me to pursue a BS in Animal Biotechnology, Conservation and Wildlife Management from Delaware Valley University. After over 10 years working in wildlife rehabilitation, farm and exotic animals, I switched to small animal medicine where I enjoy loving on all the patients and meeting so many interesting clients. My family means everything to me, especially my two precious children who share my love of Disney and enjoy playing outside with my husband and I.
Rachyl
